Lund University Study Could Shed Light On Effects Of Mold Exposure

At Lund University in Sweden, researchers have made some alarming findings concerning mold exposure and its health effects. The researchers examined building materials and dust samples from structures damaged by mold some of which including buildings damaged during Katrina. They then tested the materials with a mass spectrometer.

What the team found was the mere presence of mold in your home, office or school can mean that there are also mold toxins. This is contrary to historical thought.

The researchers also found that mold toxins are more dangerous than previously thought. Even a tiny amount of mold toxin can damage cells, effect a person’s immune system and increase the risk of allergies and asthma.

The researchers at Lund University will continue to study the relationship between mold exposure and personal injury as well as participate in a EU wide study on the same topic.
